You could be the victim of an insurance scam. You must report the incident to the police and carefully describe the damage to the other person's car. They will also want the other drivers details. Also tell the police that you do not beleive you caused the damage the other driver claimed. They may well take some interest in this and there is a good chance that if it is a scam, the other driver has done the same thing before. Incidentally, did anyone witness the incident?
You must also report the accident to your insurers, and tell them that you do not beleive that you caused the damage claimed. This will not be a new situation to them and they will take the situation on. Also take a photo of the rear of your car to show wht damage, if any, your vehicle sustained.
If the other driver contacts you and offers to let you settle directly with him for the damage to his car, reject his offer - and again report that to your insurer.
Best of luck.
