Help. Last night someone stole my lawn mower from the shed in my back garden. Can i claim for it on my Home & Contents policy?

Most policies will insure your belongings which are safely stored in out-buildings but you will have to check out your policy.

two points to look out for though - you need to report the theft to your local police station and get a crime report number - your insurance company will probably ask for that number.

Secondly, i hope that you kept the shed locked - you are likely to have invalidated your insurance if you did not.
